- I am a longtime supporter of EnergySolutions and the work they do to protect and preserve the environment. The company has an outstanding safety record and, having a good understanding of HB220, I agree that the bill is good policy which will strengthen and clarify the company’s ability to safely manage waste at the EnergySolutions facility in Utah. I support this legislation.
- I have worked in the nuclear industry for many years and am currently employed by EnergySolutions. As an Employee I am proud of the work we do in Utah and this bill will help our company manage nuclear waste by allowing is to utilize the latest technology to analyze and insure waste disposed in our state is appropriate for the unique capabilities of our site and the criteria used to determine acceptance is focused on the highest standards of safety to protect human health and the environment.
- In today’s world, technology is always changing which impacts all businesses. As I read HB220, I applaud EnergySolutions and the bill’s objectives. This legislation appropriately focuses state efforts on continuing to protect human health and the environment by using scientific analysis rather than antiquated tables that were developed decades ago without the benefit of understanding the specific geology, geography, capabilities and safety concerns that are unique to Utah. I am supportive of HB220
- HB220 provides state regulators with clarity on state policy regarding when and how nuclear waste is classified. This clarification will help our state regulators make important decisions as they analyze what waste is safe for disposal in our state. . In addition, this language is consistent with federal laws and regulations recommended by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. I am in support of HB220 and ask that you make this decision based on science and rational analysis rather than sensationalized and politicized rhetoric. Let’s have science and technology determine Utahns safety and waste classification process.
- Governor please support HB220. I have great respect and trust for Utah’s regulators. I have been disappointed with the unfair characterizations being made by opponents of HB220 who seem to believe that the current process of Director led oversite is now insufficient for some reason. We have skilled regulators and when needed the process is in place for those regulators to reach out to other third party experts to help them in their work to protect Utahns and our environment. HB220 is a good bill that gives clarity, authority and direction to our regulatory body and focuses their efforts on the use of science driven decisions and safety. I have lived in this great state all my life and appreciate companies like EnergySolutions that solve waste issues for this great country I am in support of HB220
