SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — August 12, 2026 — EnergySolutions has been awarded a Master IDIQ Subcontract by Hanford Tank Waste Operations and Closure (H2C), to provide offsite transportation, treatment, and commercial disposal of tank-side pretreated liquid mixed low-level waste generated at the Department of Energy’s Hanford Site.

The subcontract is one of three awarded by H2C to expand commercial capabilities for the treatment and disposition of Hanford’s tank waste and carries a maximum cumulative quantity of 50 million gallons and a maximum cumulative value of $4.37 billion among the awardees.

EnergySolutions currently provides transportation, grouting and disposal services for concentrate produced by the Effluent Management Facility. This new subcontract provides a contracting vehicle to continue that work in 2027 while also positioning EnergySolutions to support additional treated waste streams and future transportation and disposition strategies.

“EnergySolutions is proud to support the Department of Energy and H2C’s cleanup mission with proven expertise in the transportation, treatment, and disposition of radioactive wastes,” said Ken Robuck, President and CEO for EnergySolutions. “This subcontract demonstrates the value of having proven commercial capabilities available as DOE and H2C advance a dual path approach that includes both glass and grout technologies. We look forward to working with H2C and our partners to provide safe, compliant and reliable waste-disposition options.”

EnergySolutions brings decades of experience in transportation, waste management, treatment and disposal of radioactive waste, including the operation of licensed disposal facilities and the management of complex waste streams across the nuclear industry. EnergySolutions, supported by its own rail and trucking services, has safely transported MLLW and low-level waste for more than thirty years including more than two million gallons in the past 5 years. The company’s capabilities provide customers with integrated solutions designed to safely and efficiently manage radioactive waste throughout its lifecycle.
