Waste Acceptance
EnergySolutions is licensed and permitted to receive Class A Low-Level Waste Radioactive Waste (LLRW), NORM/NARM, PCB Radioactive waste, asbestos-contaminated waste, Mixed Waste (i.e., both radioactive and hazardous), and 11e.(2) Byproduct Material. EnergySolutions receives radioactive waste in all forms, including, but not limited to, soil, sludges, resins, large reactor components, dry active waste, and other radioactively contaminated debris. The facility is readily accessible by rail and truck and is designed to receive both bulk (e.g., intermodals, gondolas, etc.) and non-bulk (e.g., drums, boxes, etc.) containers.The following is a brief overview of the steps taken to ship waste to EnergySolutions. Contact one of EnergySolutions' Client Service Managers.

Review EnergySolutions' Waste Acceptance Criteria.

Complete the Project Scope Worksheet (provided by an EnergySolutions representative).

Upon receipt of your Project Scope Worksheet, we will internally review your waste and if appropriate, begin drafting a contract.

The next step will be to complete and submit the Radioactive Waste Profile Record and other applicable information.

The final steps of the process after a signed contract is obtaining a Generator Site Access Permit from the Utah Division of Radiation Control.

EnergySolutions will issue a Notice to Transport after the Waste Profile has been approved and a Disposal Agreement is in place.

The waste will then be transported, treated, and/or disposed.

Upon final placement, a Certificate of Disposal will be issued.
