The Heritage Railroad Corporation
The Heritage Railroad Corporation (HRC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of EnergySolutions. EnergySolutions acquired HRC from the Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee (CROET) in 2009 who previously managed and upgraded the 11.5 railway system and facilities serving the Heritage Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee (the area within and immediately surrounding the former Department of Energy K-25/ETTP Site).
Our operating principal is to expand the current intermodal transload and freight operations for industries north and west of Knoxville. The immediate availability of equipment for loads up to 80,000 pounds, rapid transfer to the main line, significant car storage space, certified scales, and competitive pricing are the primary advantages of using this short line transload and car storage operation.
Principal commodities: HAZMAT, heavy machinery, re-built railcars. Also, the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum’s “Secret City Excursion/Dinner Train,” carries approximately 4,500 passengers each year.
