EnergySolutions in Utah
EnergySolutions provides over 300 jobs to employees in the state of Utah. At our Clive facility, in Utah’s West Desert, our employees treat and safely dispose of Class A low-level radioactive waste (LLRW). Many factors, including climate and geological considerations, make Clive the ideal location for disposing of LLRW. The waste is safely disposed through the coordinated efforts of engineers, health physics technicians, equipment operators and a variety of other personnel.
EnergySolutions’ corporate headquarters are located in Salt Lake City. Here we provide direction and support for the company’s worldwide operations.
EnergySolutions supports several valuable events and organizations in Tooele County. Some of these organizations include the Tooele County Fair and Livestock Show, the Tooele County Children’s Justice Center, and the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department. We are a corporate sponsor for the Deseret Peak Complex and sponsor events at the complex throughout the year. In addition, EnergySolutions has been involved in numerous school programs in Tooele County. Read contribution guidelines and donation request instructions.
Salt Lake City
In the past three years EnergySolutions has made donations to over 90 nonprofit organizations in Utah. Among the organizations EnergySolutions supports are the Utah Food Bank and the Road Home, which provides services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Our donations focus on education, the environment, science and technology and health and human services. Read contribution guidelines and donation request instructions.
In spring 2011 our Clive Employees refurbished the yard and playground of the Tooele County Children’s Justice Center. Employees cleared weeds from flower gardens, moved swing sets, replaced disintegrating wooden barriers, and laid brick to create wheel chair access to the area. We also participate in local food and blood drives annually. Most recently, Clive employees supported the Tooele County Parks and Recreation Department by volunteering in Settlement Canyon where they picked up trash, painted picnic tables and stained fences. We also participate in annual food bank and blood drives.
Salt Lake City
Our Salt Lake office holds an annual collection drive for The Road Home. We have also collected food for the Utah Food Bank, participated in clean-up work along the Jordan River Parkway, and helped landscape the entrance to the Tracy Aviary. For Earth Day 2012, our employees partnered with Tree Utah to plant 200 shrubs in the Redwood Nature Area.
Our employees also support the community by serving on various boards of directors including:
Children’s Service Society
University of Utah Civil Engineering Alumni Association Board
University of Utah, College of Engineering, Industry Advisory Board
Utah Food Bank
Utah Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Utah State University-Tooele, Advisory Board
Women Technology Council
EnergySolutions scientists and engineers encourage the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, and engineers by speaking to hundreds of students, ranging from elementary to university students. Presentations are catered to meet the instructor’s educational goals and often address the topics of science and engineering career opportunities, nuclear energy, or the science behind the company’s Clive operations.
