EnergySolutions in New Mexico

EnergySolutions services and expertise support the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Sandia National Laboratory in New Mexico. At the Los Alamos National Laboratory, EnergySolutions is responsible for running the site’s transuranic waste program. This involves excavating, packaging, characterizing and transporting the waste to the Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) facility in Carlsbad, NM. Our employees also run the laboratory’s waste management program and operate Technical Area 54, an onsite disposal cell. Over 75 people are employed at the Los Alamos facility. They include heavy equipment operators, training coordinators, technicians, administration and safety and compliance professionals.

At our Albuquerque office, EnergySolutions provides a wide variety of quality and operations assurance expertise. Our primary customer, Sandia National Laboratory, utilizes the following services: software testing, verification and validation testing, quality assessments, management assessments, readiness assessments, consequence management, documentation support and management, training and development, software configuration management, requirements development and management, test development and execution, project management and executive coaching. Our team supports Sandia in projects of national importance and impact. We have an excellent team of experienced and well-trained personnel.

We are also sponsors of the New Mexico MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) program.

In addition to financial contributions, our employees have written grant proposals for Habitat for Humanity and the Alzheimer’s Association. We have also made donations of hats, scarves, and gloves to the Española Soup Kitchen.

In October 2011 EnergySolutions joined the Los Alamos National Laboratory and other subcontractors to help mitigate flooding danger at the Santa Clara Pueblo. We provided the heavy equipment and operators to remove debris and mud from retention ponds and drainages.
