EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS TRAINING

EnergySolutions has supported various aspects of Emergency Preparedness Training for 10 years.  Mission Support Alliance (MSA) and Fluor Hanford prior to that, contracted with us the last seven years to provide one of the Program Managers for the Federal, State and Homeland Security group to assist in development and delivery of responder training across the country.  This was funded through the Infrastructure Security and Energy Restoration (ISER) Department (OE-30) and assigned to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Hazardous Materials Management and Emergency Response (HAMMER) Training Facility on the Hanford Site.  In this capacity EnergySolutions staff were responsible for the following:

  • Supporting the National Guard Bureau developing training scenarios for the Civil Support Team (CST).  The scenarios are based on current and emerging terror threats in the areas of biological, chemical, and radiological events focusing on the development of “dirty bombs” and home-made explosive devices.
  • Conducting real world threat analysis for training CSTs assigned to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC.  Training focused on biological and radiological threat events.
  • Providing trained responders in support of FEMA for DOE Emergency Support Function (ESF) #12 Programs as requested for disasters.
  • Development and delivery of new DOE-HQ sponsored training programs with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for First Responder Training for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles.
  • Emergency Response Training sponsored by DOE-HQ to provide ESF-#12 Training for first responders in support of FEMA, the National Response Plan and National Incident Management System (NIMS).

EnergySolutions staff is available to deliver Emergency Preparedness Training on request and can tailor training to your site-specific needs.
