EnergySolutions in TennesseeTennessee is home to nearly 700 EnergySolutions employees and a variety of operations. Our Bear Creek facility, a low-level radioactive waste processing facility, provides specialty waste processing operations, waste volume reduction, and metal recycling. At our Manufacturing Sciences Corporation, another EnergySolutions company, we are involved in special metals handling and depleted uranium product fabrication. Our transportation facilities in Tennessee include Hittman Transport Services which provides transportation and logistics for customers across the country and the Heritage Railroad Corporation which connects Oak Ridge with the Norfolk Southern railroad system. We also provide support for decommissioning projects and waste management at the local Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration complexes, including the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In addition to these operations, our Government group is headquartered in Tennessee and our Global Commercial and Long-Term Stewardship groups also have a presence in Tennessee. GivingAs part of our commitment to the communities in which live and work, EnergySolutions has provided support to many valuable organizations and events in Tennessee. Examples of organizations we have contributed to include the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge, Michael Dunn Center, Boys and Girls Clubs, the Secret City Festival, and Tennessee Scholars. Read contribution guidelines and donation request instructions. VolunteerismOur Tennessee employees enjoy serving in the community. Through Habitat for Humanity, we had the opportunity to completely refurbish a home in Roane County that was named the EnergySolutions Home. We have also volunteered at many community events including the Day of Caring at the Michael Dunn Center, productions at Oak Ridge Playhouse, the Secret City Festival, Earth Day, and the Knox Opera Rossini Festival. In addition to collecting food for the local food banks, we are 15-year veterans of the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. When a tornado struck a neighboring city, our employees donated blankets and socks to victims in the area.
